Bias in the Post

I opened up the Washington Post today and saw this ridiculously biased poll on the front page. I was going to blog about it, but fortunately Michelle and Jim have done my work for me.

Yes, it is all in the wording. In our daily paper, the poll is worded “Should the filibuster tactic on the Senate floor be preserved or eliminated?” No mention of any policitical party at all. Oh by the way the vote went 43.65% to preserve; 56.34% to eliminate.

Naturally, the poll didn’t mention anything about the Democrats making it more difficult in the first place and that all the Republicans want to do is go back to set point!

And, really, that is all Republicans - well, consevatives, anyway - ever want to do is get back to set point……..The Constitution.

I’d imagine it all depends on how one frames “common sense”. I happen to think Paine gave us a pretty good window into the best definition.

You’re right, Martin. Paine had it right and most everyone who read his piece back then knew it too! Bill Clinton would say it depends upon what the definition of “Common Sense” is, though.

Heh, that’s like asking if you support killing babies, as opposed to asking if you support a woman’s right to chose. An educated person would know what they are asking, but when phrased that way, of course it’s going to skew the poll.

If only we had Jeff Gannon to guide us!
