The CBS mini-series “The Reagans” is taking a lot of heat from people upset over the portrayal of President Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy.
Former Reagan speechwriter Peter Robinson, author of “How Ronald Reagan Changed My Life,” said he’s seen excerpts of the script: “It looks ridiculous.”
Reagan’s son Michael, a radio host, has railed publicly against the project and accused CBS of plunging a “dagger” into his father’s heart. His wife, Colleen, offered him words of comfort, according to Robinson.
Matt Drudge and the NY Times have both released portions of the screenplay. Beginning this morning, the Cuppa Coffee Players used these pages to present a scene from “The Reagans”. Tomorrow morning we’ll present another.
Meanwhile, I probably will try and watch it, if only to talk about it. I’ll be shocked if I can get through it, however. My tolerance for junk like this just keeps getting lower and lower.
What is freedom of expression? Without the freedom to offend, it ceases to exist.
