Jeez, the Oklahoma City Public Schools have their new superintendent for two hours and I’m already bitching.

I guess I’m not bitching, per se… just skeptical. It turns out Superintendent Bob Moore is not a big fan of school choice. In fact, the blocking of charter schools in his school district seems to be his primary legacy. Considering how many parents want school choice, this might not be a great fit.
At least he only has a one year contract.
Here’s my question. Is there no one in the district to hire? I don’t mean Pamela Powell or Manny Soto. I mean, has the Oklahoma City school district produced no one who has risen up through the ranks to the point where he or she can become superintendent? I really wish we had a resident of the city, someone with a sense of where the school district has been to be its next leader.

Color me doubtful on this one, but I hope I’m pleasantly surprised.
